I got my drivers license! I was so nervous about passing the test. An au pair friend here failed her first time. I studied and practiced. It must have worked, because I passed the test the first time through. The testor kept saying "You are doing a good job, why are you so nervous?" You know how I get. Now I am very comfortable driving this big, American car.
Driving here brings such a feeling of freedom. It has made things so much better for me.
I can go anywhere now. I can drive myself to school, or go out with other friends and au pairs.
It brings a feeling of independence. If I wanted to, I could drive 6000 km from the
Atlantic ocean to the Pacific ocean, and never need to stop
for anything but gas! No passport needed! The roads are very good here, too.
Americans love their cars, and I can understand why. Both the children and I feel much better getting out of the house during the day, too. We can go to parks and zoos, and many fun places. |
