Day 9: We decided to chance it, & drove to the pass as quickly as we could. Luckily, the road was cleared enough to let traffic through intermittently, and we squeaked by. We drove to Wanaka and saw a roadside attraction that made us stop. It was a 1.5 Km human-sized maze.
It was fun for the first 40 minutes... Eventually we got out & made it to Queenstown. That's the place to go for all the white-water rafting & bungee jumping & speedboating. The day was nice, but the wind was so strong we had to find a B&B, or risk flying away in our tent. We found a nice place and settled in. On the recommendation of a friend who'd been there, we ate at a place called Cow Pizza. We loved it, & would recommend it to anyone traveling to New Zealand. We booked a horseback riding trip for the next day. The wind was dying down, & the sun was out, and we had 4 wonderful days to enjoy all the excitement of this town.
